The Importance of Google in Internet Marketing
Posted in Internet Marketing on January 24th, 2010 by Googler – Be the first to commentMany people who only start using the Internet for the first time in their lives think of the Internet and Google as a synonym. After all, that’s the first thing they see after opening the browser and that’s where they enter the keywords of where they want to go. Most of these people even use Google instead of the browser’s address bar to go to the websites they already know.
For us marketers it only means that our websites simply must be found through Google. By the latest research I know about Google’s share of all Internet’s traffic is only about 30%, but that’s a big share nonetheless. It’s true that our websites can do well even without being found anywhere on Google – we might have banners on other popular sites, use mailing lists and so on, but the best part is that most of that 30% is free traffic (minus some initial and maintenance effort).
The matter of fact is that Google can provide our websites with the best return on our investment in most cases. So its role is huge here.
The role of this search engine in the Internet Marketing is even bigger if we consider the paid advertising part of it – Adwords. To many online businesses that’s the only way to get new clients. The PPC advertising through Adwords is not as rewarding as organic search results, but it’s the most targeted “cold” traffic there is.
To conclude, the importance of Google in the Internet marketing is two fold – SEO and PPC. Both of these parts can boost your online businesses and in many cases it’s what keeps the business going.
